L2 Audio - Wedge Monitors
“Monitors, stage wedges, foldback”......they all refer to the same thing really. When you’re singing on a stage, in most instances you’re standing behind the speakers so consequently, you can’t hear yourself sing. Stage monitors are designed to let you hear yourself and a whole mix of whatever you like, coming back towards you. Some performers like to hear just themselves, others like to hear a bit of guitar or other vocals, etc.
Providing they’ve been put through the mixing desk in the first place, you can dial in as much or as little as you like into your stage monitor. Referred to as wedges, this is purely because of the shape. It’s angled to be placed on the floor and the sound to be projected towards you. With the WM range, you have 2 choices of angles, depending on preference and the distance you are from the monitor, etc. They also have a ’top hat’ to enable the monitor to be put onto a speaker stand and used as side fills. There are a total of 4 monitors in the L2 Audio WM range, 2 powered and 2 unpowered. These can be used in any number of configurations.
The most popular being 1 x powered and 1 x unpowered linking into it. The WM monitors are designed and built to withstand the rigours of the road and are worthy of any guitar rock gods’ foot when in ‘solo pose’! With the rugged heavy duty carpet finish and steel kick proof grille they will certainly look cool at the front of the stage whilst doing their job of letting you hear yourself. The WM10 has a horn dispersion of 90x45 degrees, the WM12 is 90x60.
